Our Story

Cabrita Wines are produced on Quinta da Vinha, owned by the Cabrita family for half a century, and have become a reference in the Algarve due to their dedication to innovation and quality.

Cabrita Wines are produced on Quinta da Vinha, in the Algarve region of Portugal, a property owned by the Cabrita family for half a century. José André, the first owner, planted  vineyards alongside his fruit trade business. Traditional grape varieties from the Algarve were his first choice, resulting in excellent wines for family and friends.

Years later, his son and current owner, José Manuel Cabrita, continued with both businesses and brought innovation to the traditional methods inherited from his father. In 2007 the first wine with the brand Cabrita is born.

Due to the high quality and uniqueness of its wines, the demand made José Manuel Cabrita to acquire two more vineyards, build a modern winery, temperature controlled barrel room, and an exquisite tasting room, designed for sharing stories and unique moments. The Cabrita family’s passion for wine, have made Cabrita Wines a reference in the Algarve wine scene.

Algarve is known for its stunning coastline, picturesque villages, and warm climate. But it’s also home to some of the finest terroir in the country, producing wines that are rich in flavor and character. Our vineyards are all located within 5 km of the Atlantic Ocean, spread over different types of soil, from the traditional sandy soils without irrigation, to the typical clay-limestone mixture of the region, and even to the rocky limestone mineral soil.

This contributes to the unique character of our award-winning Cabrita wines.
