The Cabrita family started to produce their first wines in the beautiful Quinta da Vinha, located in Silves. Later, as their wines gained recognition and demand, José Manuel Cabrita decided to plant more vineyards, increasing his production area to 16 hectares. The vineyards are closely monitored and treated by the owner, with all the care and dedication that his father taught him, which allows Cabrita Wines to produce wines from grapes of excellent quality.
Our vineyards have a variety of soil types that impart an one-of-a-kind complexity to our wines. We have vineyards with clay-limestone soils marked by a prominent sandy component, others with a greater limestone and stony composition, and even soils with high clay content, typical of the Algarve mountains. Our vineyards are nestled in the shelter of the Serra de Monchique, protected from the cold northern winds and kissed by the refreshing Atlantic breezes. This unique combination of terroir gives our Cabrita wines a touch of seaside freshness that is truly exceptional.

As part of the agricultural industry, we fully depend on our surrounding, just as it depends on us. That’s why we grow our produce organically and sustainably. Over the past decades the carbon footprint of the winery has been positive, which is something we’re really proud of.
The main objective and philosophy of Cabrita Wines is to value the Portuguese and indigenous grape varieties of the Algarve, and extract from them all the quality potential to produce excellent wines. For our white wines, we have selected the finest Arinto, Verdelho, Gouveio, Moscatel Galego, and Encruzado grapes. And for our red wines, we have chosen the outstanding Touriga Nacional, Negra Mole, Trincadeira, Aragonez, and Tinta Miúda grape varieties. Each grape is carefully cultivated to create wines that are bursting with flavor and character.
